We have known Micah and his parents since he was a little boy. Hiked with his dad, been passed by Micah and his dad as they went cross country on a more difficult High Sierra Mt. path. We are surprised, saddened, but as I sit in the warmth of our home , half way around our world there are people exploring the edge, and smiling big. Micah and his dear friends have completed what they came to do. Its a mixture of joy and sorrow. I have learned so much from these men, our hearts go out to the families and friends. Thank you for sharing so much with us.

I've known Micah's mother, Anita, for a few years, as a neighbor and friend, and recently attended a memorial service at her friend's home in Los Angeles, conducted by the same rabbbi that conducted Micah's bris and bar-mitzvah....needless to say, it was profoundly moving.

The most amazing aspect about what happened that day was that Anita came to terms with her son's body being still on the mountain...despite the Jewish tradition of desiring the return of the deceased loved one's body for internment, Anita, and the rabbi both found it fitting and consistent with Micah's chosen life and vocation to be part of the great outdoors...literally at one with the mountain.

One cannot help being amazed at her generous spirit and unselfish nature.

I wish I had a chance to meet Micah during his life....now I am studying his life as documented by Wade Johnson, Johnny Copp, and others.
